So What Is A Will? – Opportunity

Read More About:

Want to make a start on your will?

Making a Will is not about wealth it is about making sure that what you want to happen to your estate does happen. It gives you the opportunity to specify such things as who will administer your estate, who will care for your children and who will receive specific items of your property.

Making a will also gives you the opportunity to include a legacy (a sum of money or a specific object) to a friend or to a favourite charitable cause. It also provides an opportunity to control the age at which your children receive your money or to make special arrangements for a child with disabilities. If you have children under 18, you can appoint testamentary guardians to take care of them if you should die.

If you make a will before you get married, it will be revoked, by operation of law, on your wedding day.

This happens even if the person who benefits under your will is the person you later marry. If you wish to make a will immediately prior to your marriage, then it needs to include special wording to avoid automatic revocation.
